DPTechnics’ Walter is pin- and software-compatible with the now-obsolete PyCom GPy wireless module. Based around a powerful ESP32-S3 wireless SoC, it is capable of voice and image AI inferencing at the edge but also features an ultra-low deep sleep current of 9.8 µA. This makes Walter suitable for battery-operated IoT installations and always-on AI applications.
Walter is pre-certified for CE, FCC, IC, UKCA, New-Zealand, and Australia markets and offers open-source software support for ESP-IDF, Arduino, MicroPython, and Toit. Walter accepts previously used MicroPython firmware from PyCom GPy projects with minimal changes. Some I/Os will require renaming. Peripherals include UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and 24x physical GPIOs.
For more information, please consult this official datasheet.
DPTechnics accepts a minimum order quantity of 50x Walters per year for commercial projects. A development kit is available with pre-certified antennas and pre-uploaded firmware for a GNSS tracking application.
