It’s a proven concept: come to ipXchange if you want videos to promote your electronics and semiconductor technology. TL:DR? Start your journey now by buzzing us at eamon@ipXchange.tech
Well, it’s not quite been two years if you go by our official birthday, but ipXchange has very much hit another milestone worth celebrating: 50,000 YouTube subscribers! Thank you to every single person and company involved in this journey. It’s been an amazing learning experience.

But how did we get to this point?
Yes, ipXchange has been going for around 2 years, but truly, our story starts 30 years ago with the establishment of our parent company TKO Marketing Consultants. TKO has been working in the electronics and semiconductor industry since before some of the ipXchange team were even born, but it, too, spends its time working out the best ways to engage with electronics design engineers.
And TKO has gotten damn good at this over those 30 years, whether through PR, technical writing, graphic design, exhibition support – you name it, TKO has done it!
With the vast changes we’ve all seen as people moved away from office-based work and into online spaces, the bold decision to launch a platform like ipXchange could only have come from a team as creative and engaged as TKO. It was the intelligent decision that had to be made in order to evolve with the times.
Intelligence evolved
Whenever TKO, or ipXchange, has written or reported about a new company, we’ve asked ourselves some very important questions that, frankly, any business should ask themselves to get ahead in a crowded market:
- Do people know you?
- Do people understand you?
- Do people trust you?
And what we quickly realised is that the answer for many companies out there is ‘no’ for at least one of these questions, if not more. But why? The truth is that the way people – including engineers – consume content is very different to how it was not even 10 years ago.
Online is where most people go to discover new technology that they need for their work. With that said, the majority of content that’s out there doesn’t quite resonate with the new generation of engineers.
More so, this generation loves video, and stuffy, scripted corporate videos don’t feel genuine to a generation that grew up with honest, shaky-camera content from people that they could relate to. ipXchange has bridged that communication gap to the new generation.

ipXchange on camera
It may seem strange to think that ipXchange used to be a written content platform like many trade magazines. Sure, the writing was much more jokey and casual, but it was the written word nonetheless.
When the ipXchange team started to experiment with video, however, we realised that we could bring so much more character to our content. By interviewing companies both online and in person, we started to have conversations that would never have passed the corporate filter – we’ve even got in trouble for it!
But the honesty was clear: engineers trusted this style of unscripted discussion.
Honing a craft
We were amazed by the responses we were getting to the discussions we were having. Engineers were excited to evaluate previously unreported technology, companies were starting to approach us to cover their latest innovations, and some shows were even asking us to serve as official media for the event. We were clearly doing something right!
That said, we knew that we could improve. We knew that we could evolve.
Over the course of 2023, ipXchange experimented with various thumbnail formats, article and video lengths, and editing styles. Later, we even invested in new software, hardware, and staff to capture better interviews both online and in person. We started with Teams and a GoPro, and now we’re recording with Riverside and two DSLRs – and let’s not forget those microphones.
It’s been a long journey of exploration, and in 2024, we decided to take on YouTube. Seriously, rather than simply using it to host our video content.

The right thing to do
It’s crazy how having honest, open conversations is such a disruptive way to report on the semiconductor industry. But outside of the occasional individual YouTuber, ipXchange is the only company doing this. And we are so happy with how far we’ve come.
To date, ipXchange has:
- Filmed at over 15 exhibitions
- Conducted over 300 interviews
- Uncovered over 180 commercial opportunities worth over 10 million units in total
- And racked up around 400k views on YouTube alone – we also post to LinkedIn
So do the right thing: if you’re a semiconductor or electronics technology provider that wants to engage with design engineers, have them know you, understand you, and trust you, ipXchange wants to tell your story.
We’ll do it honestly, on camera, and rest assured you will look good!
