A person detection system running on the World’s first Cortex-M85 MCU

Our second discussion with Renesas at Embedded World is quite the showstopper. In this interview with Graeme Clark, ipXchange gets a look at the World’s first Cortex-M85 microcontroller, which features on-chip hardware acceleration using Arm’s Helium technology.

For the first time, a microcontroller can perform tasks previously reserved for MPUs, such as the AI person detection that was demonstrated on Renesas’ stand. Not only that, but these high-performance microcontrollers are available at much lower cost than MPUs, allowing advanced AI/ML capabilities in new markets thought previously unviable.
