Monolithic Power Systems’ (MPS’) MPQ7795 is an AEC-Q100-qualified monophonic class-D audio amplifier IC with a footprint of just 4 x 4 mm for significant space savings. It can be used to drive a single speaker (4 Ω) in a Bridge-Tied Load (BTL) configuration at up to 24.5 W and also features low-EMI, efficiency exceeding 90%, and integrated diagnostics to protect both the load and the device itself.

These device statuses can be output to a host MCU via the industry-standard synchronous serial interface, which can also be used to configure parameters such as the switching frequency, which is adjustable for set rates of 330 kHz, 384 kHz, 470 kHz, or 2.2 MHz; the high frequency minimises interference with AM radio bands.

The MPQ7795 is also designed with vehicle battery life in mind, so the 0.02 μA standby current and 16 mA quiescent current are a good fit for designers looking to extend the lifetime of an electric vehicle for a given charging cycle.
