At CES 2024, ipXchange interviewed Asahi Kasei Microdevices (AKM) about an in-cabin alcohol and carbon dioxide sensor designed by one of its OEM partners. The key application of this technology was to prevent drunk driving, but the system was only described at the application level, so no AKM components that were used in the design were revealed.

The application form below allows engineers to apply for consultation with AKM to learn more about how this high-sensitivity, life-saving solution was developed, and to evaluate some of the technology used as part of it. From ipXchange’s research, we can infer that this includes but is not limited to AKM’s NIR (Near-InfraRed) sensing technology that we have previously seen in complete solutions such as Senseair’s Sunlight CO2 & Sunrise Evaluation Kit
