ScioSense’s APC1 is a matchbox-sized (50 x 38 x 21 mm) air quality sensing module that provides designers with up to 20 air quality characterisation parameters, including:
- PM1.0, PM2.5, and PM10 (Particulate Matter, down to 0.3 µm diameters)
- TVOC (Total Volatile Organic Compounds)
- eCO2 (effective carbon dioxide)
- AQI (Air Quality Index)
- Temperature
- Relative humidity
The APC1 presents designers with an easy-to-integrate, maintenance-free solution for comprehensive air quality monitoring that is compliant with international air quality standards in applications that include home appliances, air purifiers/conditioning, building automation, demand-controlled ventilation, smart thermostats, and other IoT devices.
This compact module is especially useful in space-constrained designs – with the smallest form factor at time of release – or projects that require fast time to market, thanks to the preassembled, BOM-reducing nature of this solution. Inbuilt temperature compensation algorithms also ensure that readings are as accurate as possible while further simplifying development.
ScioSense’s APC1 can be integrated via I2C or UART 3.3 V communication interfaces, and the device accepts a supply voltage of 4.5-5.5 V, with a typical power consumption of 75 mA. Details on the specific performance of each sensor can be found in the APC1 datasheet, and ScioSense offers evaluation via samples or a kit that grants the user access to dashboard interfaces for testing the complete sensing functionality of the APC1.
