Accensors Stick-To-Use SMD Foil Sensors And Ready-To-Use Stripe Foil Sensors

Accensors’ devices utilise advances in printed electronics technology to move beyond conductive substrates and create fully realised flexible sensors using a combination of materials in a multilayer architecture. The flexibility of these sensors allows for deployments in wearable applications for medical monitoring as well as hard-to-reach areas in automotive and industrial processes, such as temperature monitoring between battery cells.

These foil sensors can be manufactured to suit flat or contoured devices with single or multiple sensing elements in a low-profile device with a thickness of 0.4 mm. Accensors offers stick-on SMD devices and ready-to-use stripe sensors. Biosensor variants are available in submersible or droplet-based testing designs with a 3-electrode architecture featuring the engineer’s choice of sensing electrode, a reference electrode, and a counter electrode.

Accensors’ SMD devices require no soldering and can easily be stuck onto a conductor track within your system. A wide range of sensor electrodes include:

-> Ion selective sensors: pH, sodium, potassium, magnesium
-> Biochemical sensors for myocardial infarction: Troponin, NT-proBNP, creatinine, haemoglobin, lactate
-> Physical sensors: Pressure/force, temperature, moisture, conductivity, impedance, impulses/vibrations

The reference electrodes can also be chosen to match the device for short- (hours), medium- (days), and long-term (weeks) monitoring timelines. Some of these devices are in the development stages, but a preliminary datasheet for the pH sensor illustrates the form factor and interfacing requirements for these devices.

Alternatively, Accensors’ stripe foil sensors are plug-and-play solutions for use with Accensor’s measurement device kit. One end of the strip contains the contacts for connecting to the measurement device, and the other contains one or multiple sensors for temperature, pressure, moisture, pH, sodium, potassium, and more. These can be mounted as part of an array for sensing over a wider area of interest.

Accensors’ foil sensor technology can be evaluated using their multifunctional measuring device that provides engineers with easy-to-assess, accurate measurements of various physical and electrochemical parameters. Bluetooth connectivity allows for remote measurement in space-constrained applications though the instrument has its own user interface that is available as a desktop software package or app.

The key innovation offered by Accensors is the flexibility, low profile, and novel installation method that is particularly useful in medical monitoring applications.
