Espressif’s ESP32-C6-WROOM-1 is a general-purpose Wi-Fi, IEEE 802.15.4, and Bluetooth LE module. This device is built around a 32-bit RISC-V single-core microprocessor that can run at up to 160 MHz and is supported by 320 kB ROM, 512 kB HP SRAM, and 16kB LP SRAM. The ESP32-C6-WROOM-1 range includes options for 4 MB, 8 MB or 16 MB of Quad SPI Flash, with an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and a module size of 18.0 x 25.5 x 3.1 mm. An extended temperature module (up to 105°C) is available with 4 MB of Flash.
32 GPIOs and a rich set of peripherals make the ESP32-C6-WROOM-1 a great fit for many applications, including:
- Smart Home
- Industrial Automation
- Health Care
- Consumer Electronics
- Smart Agriculture
- Point-Of-Sale
- Service Robots
- Audio Devices
- IoT Sensor Hubs
- IoT Data Loggers
The ESP32-C6-WROOM-1 supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6 (802.11 ax), Bluetooth 5 (LE), Zigbee, and Thread (802.15.4) connectivity. The device is also fully compatible with the IEEE 802.11b/g/n protocol, and an on-board PCB antenna serves Wi-Fi and Bluetooth operations.
Wi-Fi 6 enables uplink and downlink orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA), which is especially useful for simultaneous connections in high-density environments. Additionally, downlink MU-MIMO (multi-user, multiple input, multiple output) increases network capacity, and target wake time (TWT) functionality optimises the power saving mechanisms in your end device.

The ESP32-C6-DevKitC-1 serves as an entry-level development board for the ESP32-C6-WROOM-1 (8 MB SPI Flash version). This board integrates complete functionality for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE, Zigbee, and Thread connectivity. Most of the I/O pins for the ESP32-C6-WROOM-1 can be accessed via headers on the side of the development kit, which also allows for easy mounting on a breadboard.
As well as the ESP32-C6-WROOM-1, the ESP32-C6-DevKitC-1 also has an on-board 5 V to 3.3 V LDO, USB-to-UART bridge, J5 connector for current measurement, an addressable RGB LED and Power On LED, and buttons for boot and reset.
Two USB Type-C ports are present on this board: One is ESP32-C6 chip compliant with USB 2.0, capable of up to 12 Mbps transfer speed; the other is used for default power supply to the board, as well as the communication with the ESP32-C6 chip via the on-board USB-to-UART bridge. The board can also be powered via the 5 V or 3.3 V and GND pin headers.
