With Wirepas, you’ll never have to worry that you’ve got too many devices in your IoT network…
At Embedded World 2024, ipXchange caught up with Oula Valipakka for a live demonstration of Wirepas’ connectivity solution based on the World’s first non-cellular 5G standard.
This truly disruptive innovation enables large-scale IoT mesh networking with billions of nodes within a single network. Wirepas’ technology also enables extremely high mesh network density for up to 1 million devices per square kilometre, making it ideal for smart metering in large cities, to give just one application example!
The live demonstration at the show featured 20 nodes – each a Nordic Thingy:91 X IoT module – across four different halls. A single gateway at the Wirepas booth provides the connection to the server for monitoring, with each node acting as a completely independent access point in the mesh network.
Oula also shows us the full bi-directional communication capabilities of Wirepas’ 5G mesh network in action by changing the colour of the LED on the nearest of the Thingy:91 Xs.
Though its non-cellular 5G mesh network is its latest achievement, Wirepas also provides several other solutions for large-scale mesh networking using 2.4-GHz or sub-GHz protocols.
Learn about all three technologies – and some key chipsets that support them – by following the link to the board page below, where you can also apply to evaluate this technology for your next commercial IoT project.
Keep designing!
